'We don’t believe in taking risks with our landlords investments, so we always insist that an NTD check be carried out on all short listed applicants. In the past, we have identified prospective tenants that looked good on paper, until we found out that they had a previous rental history that did not match with the one they had provided. By using NTD, we believe that we are offering our landlords an additional level of protection against fraud and deception.'

'As an owner of a boutique property management agency finding the best possible tenant for my properties is the core of my business. My owners can be confident that by using NTD database I make certain that any applicant will be thoroughly checked ensuring that potential problems are minimised and that a valued applicant is sought. I urge all property managers to use this service for not only checking but lodging all tenants onto the database.'

'Every property manager and principal in NSW and Sydney in particular knows that litigation against real estate agencies in the form of Consumer, Trader & Tenancy Tribunal or Court action is increasing for failure of the agent to process the Tenancy
Applications with due diligence. One of the main tools this agency uses for all residential and commercial rental application checks is the National Tenancy Database for manly Tenant and Public Record Checks and Multi Power (Full ASIC) Checks.
We have been using their service since 2002 with significant success!
I do not believe any Property Management Team in Australia can afford not to utilise National Tenancy Database for both their own protection and that of their valued current and future clients.'
Mark Sanford – Driscoll & Reid Real Estate Services
'I have been using NTD as one of my most valuable property management tools since its inception over 20 years ago.
It has been invaluable as a listing tool when dealing with property owners who want to manage the properties themselves as I will not handle this form of leasing only – that would be like giving away the farm! If they want to manage their properties themselves,
they can do their own tenancy checks. This is a major point of difference and its impact cannot be emphasized too much.
Quite obviously, over the past 20 years I have been alerted to the fact on many, many occasions that the tenancy applications that looked so great on paper turned out to have histories of non-payment of rent, property destruction or any one of a myriad of problems that cause us all grief. Using NTD has potentially saved my clients many hundreds of thousands of dollars over this time, not to mention the many weeks it has saved property managers who have worked with me by not having to continually chase arrears and appear at Hearings for tenants who should never have been approved in the first place.
The only one regret I have with the service is that it relies heavily on input from property managers at both the beginning and the end of tenancies. Many are all too willing to make use of the facility when checking applications but do not complete
the cycle by providing the information needed at the end of the tenancy.
The recent facility through 1Form of being able to send a data file direct to NTD (as well as to Direct Connect and using the same data file, upload all of the tenants’ information directly into REST) has saved property managers across the country many hours
in time and reduced the possibility of errors occurring due to incorrect data entry.
What will the future hold?'
